Cultivated Meat in India Gets a Push with New Public-Private Collaboration

India's cultivated meat company, ClearMeat, is collaborating with the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) to advance the country's cultivated meat sector.
According to ClearMeat's LinkedIn update, the collaboration will combine the company's biotechnology expertise with NIFTEM's food technology resources to drive innovation. At NIFTEM's headquarters, the ClearMeat team met with Mr. Harinder Oberoi, Head of NIFTEM, to discuss their shared goals. ClearMeat expressed gratitude for Mr. Oberoi's support and highlighted his role in fostering innovation within the sector.
ClearMeat is India's first cultivated meat firm. It has developed a specialized FBS-free growth medium and cultivated beef mince prototype. The collaboration with NIFTEM is expected to help scale these products. In their announcement, ClearMeat expressed enthusiasm about working with NIFTEM and sharing progress as they move forward.
NIFTEM, which operates under India's Ministry of Food Processing Industries, is focused on education, research, and entrepreneurship in the food processing sector. By collaborating with ClearMeat, the institution will contribute resources and expertise to support advancements in cultivated meat technology in India and beyond.
