With the latest round of funding, the Berkeley-based startup plans to transition to pilot-scale with the launch of a sausage product line consisting of a cell-cultured meat and plant-based protein blend. In addition to building a 20,000 square foot facility to support this flagship product, New Age Meats also intends to double its workforce and expand R&D, with a target market date of 2022, pending regulatory approval.
