Pow.Bio, a leader in biomanufacturing, has launched a 25,000-square-foot facility in Alameda, California, designed to advance fermentation-based production. The AI-enabled fermentation facility helps partners achieve cost targets while serving as a scalable model for global integration.
The facility includes dual-chamber continuous systems at various scales, expanded bench and pilot-scale capabilities, and an FDA-registered cleanroom for pilot-scale fermentation and downstream processing, supporting the food and beverage industries. Pow.Bio’s AI-driven software optimizes process development, predictive control, and autonomous fermentation, enhancing efficiency and stability while mitigating contamination and genetic drift. ¹
CEO Shannon Hall stated, “Our Alameda facility is a working demonstration site for Pow.Bio’s modern, cost-effective manufacturing solution, already delivering meaningful gains for our partners.”
In 2023, Pow.Bio secured $9.5 million in Series A funding to scale fermentation capacity and partnered with MeliBio to advance bee protein and enzyme production. Looking ahead, Hall emphasized, "This facility is setting a new industry standard, enabling our partners to see cost and performance improvements in weeks rather than months or years.”
