Public Cultivated Meat Tastings Approved in Netherlands

Netherland’s House of Representatives passed a motion to legalize public tastings of cultivated meat in the country. The world’s first cultivated meat hamburger was produced in 2013 by Dutch company Mosa Meat, leading the Netherlands to be seen as the birthplace of this food innovation. Despite this achievement, European regulations have hindered product developments in the Netherlands leaving room for other countries to celebrate world-first milestones including the world’s first production facility and first restaurant to serve cultivated meat. Dutch politicians, Mosa Meat, and others celebrated the move as the latest step towards legalizing the sale of cultivated meat in the country.
